Fresher pain

While some may take offense to Paul M.'s views on Tradition Eight, I think he's right. After a recent speaking commitment at a rehab, I talked to an employee who's also an AA member. He said that with cuts in Medicare and insurance programs, most people will not be able to afford rehabs. We discussed whether or not this would be a good thing. I said that when I sponsor newcomers who haven't been to rehab, they seem to be more willing to follow directions than those who have been. Maybe the pain isn't as fresh for those who've had thirty days to recover physically?
