Turning isolation into belonging

At a recent meeting of my home group, a person new to our community talked about his fear of living in a small town because of his differences--a different sexual preference, a different religion, and a different political perspective from the great majority of our community. He told us he'd found acceptance in AA simply because he shared about his alcoholism, and AAs were willing to share about our common solution. That's how he found a sense of belonging.
