Cross-cultural Candor

A sabbatical leave of absence is a wonderful opportunity to get away from it all, look at one's life from a distance, learn something new, spend some special time with one's Higher Power, and maybe even get a little sabbath rest. That's a tall order, but I had a promising plan. First, I would be with a community of pilgrims for three weeks of trekking in Nepal among the world's highest mountains. Then I planned a five-week visit to the isolated mountain provinces of the Philippine Islands.
