The First Day of the Rest of Your Life
November 27, 1995 started out as a routine day for me. My daughter left for school, my husband left for the office. By 10 A.M. my coffee was down the drain and I was drinking my wine. I had to get energized in order to clean house and get the laundry done. Just before noon my husband came home and invited me to go to lunch. I didn't want to go, but I also didn't want to hear the same old lecture about never wanting to do anything, so I agreed to go. At the restaurant I didn't order (I wasn't hungry), and as my husband ate his lunch he pleaded with me to talk to him. All I could say was "I'm fine." Our lunch date was very quiet.
