After I moved to Santa Barbara over a year ago, I found that I missed my regular AA meetings in a small inland town in adjacent Ventura County. Those small, non-smoking meetings, held in a county alcohol and drug office, had been special to me in a crisis-filled period of my life. They had brought me a closeness to AA that I hadn't felt since my earliest years in the program. I treasured the medallion I received there on my twelfth AA birthday--my first medallion.
