Conversation in candlelight

One Sunday morning many years ago, our group had a speaking commitment at a meeting held in a small neighboring town. The meeting was held in an old hotel which allowed the AA group to use the bar for their meetings. The five of us left home early so as to have breakfast in the hotel dining room. Our waitress was a member of the Fellowship and was friendly with the senior citizen of our group, Timmy D., who at that time was in his late sixties and had been sober for twenty-seven years. She told us about a sixteen-year-old local girl who was having a bad time with alcohol and was then living on the streets. She'd tried talking to the girl without success and wondered if Timmy would talk to her.
