Eye of the Storm
An AA meeting in the midst of Rio's Carnival
"This is one of the most beautiful harbors in the world," I thought as our cruise ship passed Sugar Loaf mountain at the entrance of the harbor to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'd entered this harbor more times than I could remember--many times aboard the U.S.S. Omaha during World War II, and one other time in February 1969 aboard the S.S. Argentina. It was very different this time; I was sober and would be sober for this one-week visit.
