A Transformation of Thought

I am the first-born son of a Native American mother and a Swedish-Finnish father. On March 30, 1936 my mother gave birth to me in an Alaskan village called Hoonah. Six months later our family moved to Elfin Cove, Alaska. Experts on ethnic backgrounds and human behavior say that my chances of becoming an alcoholic were very good. Over the next forty-six years I proved the experts right.
