Held in Trust

When I was still a practicing alcoholic, my husband and I and our three children lived in a neighborhood with other like families. It was normal for any mother who found that she couldn't be home on time to ask if her child could wait at a neighbor's house after school. We helped each other out that way. There were times when I was called to help out in this way before my alcoholism was full-blown. (I was not only addicted to alcohol but also took Valium, which was prescribed by my doctor.) Then the calls stopped. No one would trust their most precious possessions with me.
