Anywhere, U.S.A

I work part-time at our central office, and I received a phone call the other day from a gentleman in California who identified himself as an alcoholic. He said he'd been sober for five days, and then started drinking again. He was sober that day. He asked if I was an alcoholic as well, and wondered if I'd answer a few questions. Do you go to meetings? Do you read the Big Book? Do you call your sponsor? Do you take it one day at a time? And you're in Omaha, Nebraska, right? I answered all of his questions, and asked why he was concerned. He told me he was checking up on what his sponsor had told him; he wanted to make sure that AA was the same in the rest of the country! So if you're wondering how AA works around the country, you can pick up the phone and call Anywhere, U.S.A.
