Five Minutes Left in the Pint

One night in 1962, Bob C. and I made a Twelfth Step call on Johnny H., a perpetual newcomer to our Northport, Long Island AA group. John was in bad shape so we decided to take him to Freeport Hospital, an hour away by car. It was then the only local medical facility that would treat an alcoholic.
