Wild Kingdom

After spending six months of my life in Kenya and other parts of Africa, I know what it's like to be isolated. For the first month, I was in the middle of the desert living with the Samburu and the Rendele peoples. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. Very few people spoke English, and I could only say "Jambo," meaning hello, and ask people how they were doing. When I received my LIM newsletter at the post office, which was six hours from where I was stationed, I devoured it.
