The Big Book spells out the terms for a successful day-by-day recovery from the disease of alcoholism. But I believed I was unique. When I found AA, I bounced between the Fellowship and the bars for the first six months. I read the Big Book through the haze of alcohol. I attended meetings drunk, or would go to a meeting sober and then drive straight to a bar when the meeting was over.
