<emphasis type="italic">On the</emphasis> Grapevine

For decades, back issues of the Grapevine have been lugged by AA members into correctional facilities and treatment facilities around the world, donated as a means of making the AA message available in a real and tangible way. Recently, we got a letter from an AA member in Torrance, California which highlighted how much the Grapevine can mean to men and women behind bars. In part, the letter read: "One day I received a phone call from another alcoholic, a woman named Louise. Louise is housebound, but she was concerned about others like herself who were not able to attend outside meetings, and she was calling to ask me if I would pick up some old Grapevines she had to bring to some of the women in a nearby correctional facility.
