Going Out Alone

It was May 1994, and I'd been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous just over a year and was reaping the benefits of sobriety. I'd salvaged my job and had newfound appreciation for life and all it had in store for me. I didn't know it yet, but I was soon to receive the biggest wake-up call of that early period. This event would remind me of the urgency of our disease.
