Two letters on rituals in AA

I was brought up in a religion that consisted of dogmas and rituals. Years later, when I found AA, the thing that appealed to me and kept me coming back was the freedom of the Fellowship. Early on, I heard a speaker say that he believed for every person in the room there was a different way of working the AA program. He also said that the timetable for working the Steps was between each individual and his or her Higher Power. For myself, the Fellowship and the God of my understanding, working through people, have helped me maintain forty years of sobriety one day at a time. But changes have crept into this relaxed Fellowship, and little by little, rituals have crept into our halls.
