In God's Hands

Sobriety has changed my life in ways I never imagined, but my daughter Mary's life has changed in some amazing ways too. My husband Kevin and I got sober within a couple of months of each other, right before she turned five. Her early childhood was spent with two practicing alcoholics. She spent a lot of time alone in the playpen with the television on, while Mommy and Daddy were getting drunk and high in the basement. I'm sure she wondered why she wasn't allowed in the basement, since we spent most of our time down there.
