How Much Do I Have to Pay You?

My name is Ernest and I'm an alcoholic. I read a story in the February issue of the Grapevine about the greatest sponsor in the world, and I would like to tell everyone about mine. On December 1, 1992, I went to a detox, not for help but to get away from my family and the people I owed money to. I planned to go back to drinking as soon as I got out. At my first meeting in the detox, someone asked if there were any newcomers to AA. So I said "My name is Ernie, I'm an alcoholic. I've been drinking since I was twelve and today I'm forty, and I've been in trouble all those years."
