Soon after I got sober, my wife reminded me that our house needed painting. I decided that the best way to keep her off my back was to buy the paint, some brushes and a roller, and get started. I announced this decision to my sponsor, Joe C., and expected accolades for assuming responsibility. His reaction stunned me: "No you don't. Not without a plan."
