The Only Requirement

A great way to get a lot of discussion going at a meeting is to suggest that "the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking," particularly if someone is insisting that they do not have to identify as an alcoholic because of this Third Tradition statement. It really gets heated if it is a closed meeting and the alcoholics present feel uncomfortable with an unknown quantity in the meeting.
