Sobriety to Go

It was November 1994, and I once again found myself with nowhere to go and no one to turn to. Sunday morning rolled around and I had to decide whether or not to go to the regular meeting of the Back to Basics group, which had been my home group before the desire to drink became stronger than the desire to stay sober . . . again. Having just gotten out of the hospital where I had been on suicide watch following an attempt at ending the misery of my alcoholic life, something led me to decide that I simply had no other choice. And so I went.
