What We Cannot Do for Ourselves

Gratitude is one of the first gifts I received from Alcoholics Anonymous, since just the simple act of not putting alcohol in my system gave me almost immediate results. When I was a month sober, I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the reflection: I had a sparkle in my eye that had never been there before. I was also able to pay a few more bills because all my money wasn't going into the bottle.
