I wanted to say thank you to the Grapevine for the complimentary subscription of the magazine you sent to me while I was in prison. Although I had been reading the Big Book and sharing with another inmate, I still felt alone--that is, until I received my first copy of the Grapevine in November 1997. Then I knew I was no longer alone. Life inside gradually became easier. After a couple of months of continuous pestering of the program director, we were granted our first AA meeting. Although I only attended five meetings before I was released in February 1998, I left knowing that everyone else had that meeting.
