On March 2, 1999, the first meeting of the Freedom Group of AA was held in Granville Hall, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. Attendance was twelve men and women, the topic was Step One, and the hat yielded about fifteen dollars. It had been decided that the group format was a closed Step discussion meeting. How the need for such a group was identified may be of interest.
