Caution: low-flying miracles

For some time now I've been buying books for people who are new to AA meetings. I do this because when I first got sober I was ashamed to tell anyone that I couldn't afford to buy a five-dollar book (the Big Book) so I swiped my first one from the Veterans Administration hospital where I sobered up. Consequently, I have now bought more than 250 books over the last eleven years as a means of making amends to the VA hospital, and also because I like doing it.
