Sober on the High Holidays
The High Holidays are the most sacred time of the year for Jewish people. During this ten-day period, we pray, repent, and perform charitable acts. While I don't go to synagogue much during the year, I almost always attend services on the High Holidays. The idea of making amends for my wrongdoings makes sense to me. Since becoming a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, I can see how closely the prayers on this particular holiday parallel the Steps of AA.
