One of my greatest periods of despair was when my sponsor, Henry, with whom I'd had a wonderful twenty-year relationship, was dying in a nursing home. He had Alzheimer's Disease, and since I was a registered nurse, I was privileged to care for him during the last six months of his life. He had no family left and I didn't want him to die alone.
