My Best Day Sober

My name is Brian, and I am an alcoholic. In my area of Texas, we usually give the date on which our continuous sobriety began. This, of course, is optional, but I seldom have heard anyone share their strength, hope, and experience in AA who did not at some time during the course of the conversation make reference to how long they have been sober. I have not had a drink of alcohol since January 1, 1964. I was thirty-eight, middle-aged and young, at the time, and now I am middle-aged and older.
