Solutions Not Sadness

The first time I walked into an AA meeting I'd been ordered to do so by the court. Actually, I didn't walk--I was wheeled. I'd spent the previous four months in a hospital because of a blackout and collision with a utility pole. I was sent home with crutches, but the doctors were dubious that I'd ever walk again. I'd crushed my hip and left leg. I had hundreds of stitches all over my body, and my right eye was damaged from a blow to my head. After four months of morphine and self-pity, I wasn't in real good shape when I wheeled into AA back in 1974.
