A Thousand Tiny Acts

It was the spring of 1988 and I was six months sober. A friend lent me a tape of a man speaking at an AA meeting. I listened, and then I listened again, and again. I stayed up most of the night replaying the tape, mesmerized by what I was hearing. After a few days I realized why--it was my story down to specific details.
