Is AA Getting Soft?

My first fifteen years of sobriety were experienced in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. I was fortunate that, on any given day, I had the choice of thirty or forty meetings I could attend within a twenty-five-mile radius of where I lived. There was everything from small, closed discussion or Step meetings to open speaker meetings that attracted several hundred people.
