My Second Step

In group therapy, I was learning more and more about alcoholism, but one particular video that I saw really affected me. The camera was in the driver's seat so it was as if the viewer was driving drunk. The drunk driver swerved, the double yellow lines moved back and forth out of focus--just as I'd experienced so many times before! In the video, an accident occurred and someone was killed. For the first time I realized I was dangerous. Driving drunk, I could kill someone I loved. I could kill a stranger who is loved by someone else. I was a potential murderer.
