Quieting the committee

One night this summer I was experiencing a little mind-racing, which is common for many alcoholics I know. There was no crisis in my life, no big issue to deal with, yet my brain was chasing its own tail. The committee was arguing, and I was exhausted. Before joining AA, my head spun like this constantly and would slow down only if I were drunk. Lately I've found an appreciation for these moments because they remind me of what my life can be like again, anytime I want to let go of the spiritual tools I've been given.
