The Best Decision

Choosing sobriety--and rainbows

My home group is the Bounce Back Group, in the Puna District, which is southeast of Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii. It's a place with lots of green plants, trees, wild orchids, agricultural farms, mangos, papayas, and lava. Molten lava is still flowing to the sea near Kalapana from the Kiluea crater in nearby Volcanoes National Park. Sometimes at night we can see the red glow of Pele's fire in the sky. And usually, the night sky is so clear that before the moon comes up, you can see the stars and even the Milky Way in detail with the naked eye. There's plenty of rain here, and sunshine too, so big rainbows often appear. Recently, I witnessed my first rainbow at night: the full moon provided enough light to see this wondrous sight.
