Memoirs of a Conference Junkie

I grew up in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, an experience for which I am truly grateful. When I quit drinking in 1991, I was seventeen years old and had no clue what teenagers did besides break rules and make bad choices for themselves. I went to meetings where people older than I was told me they spilled more beer on their tie than I ever drank. This grew tiresome, and I often found it difficult to relate to people who shared about typical consequences related to their drinking--things such as bankruptcy, divorce, losing children or jobs, repeated DWIs, or getting kicked out of bars.
