I received my copy of the Grapevine today--always a happy experience. But I was surprised to see the condition of the envelope: it had been ripped, torn open, then partially taped together. I opened it quickly and was relieved that my magazine was only slightly rumpled and still readable, thank God! Then I saw the postal message stamped on the front: "Received in Bad Condition." And I thought, "Yeah, so was I. . .received in bad condition by AA, nearly twenty-one years ago." But baby, look at me now--sober, joyous and free! And the Grapevine helped me to get here.
