More dogged opinions

As a newer member of AA, I think we as a group should keep our perspectives in order. Tradition Two speaks of an ultimate authority--a loving God who expresses Himself through our group conscience. I believe Bill W.'s description of his disease's progression shows that alcoholics can, and sometimes do, use other chemicals. Knowing that, my question is, Why do we alcoholics have trouble with people who are dually addicted? My thinking and obligation is to help people achieve sobriety--that is the primary purpose of AA. I think as disoriented and confused as newcomers are when they arrive, we have to be careful not to make their transformation any harder than it has to be.
