That'll be two bucks

In my home group, which is a closed men's stag, we began a humorous practice some years ago of shouting, "Two bucks!" whenever anyone identifies himself as an alcoholic/addict. That's a buck for being an alcoholic and a buck for being an addict, and his neighbors at the meeting lean on him pretty hard to pay up. One night a man went into a long story about how he had used booze, heroin, weed, cocaine, speed, and Valium. As he paused to take a breath, an old-timer at the back piped up, "Six bucks!" That has ended the alcoholic/addict identification at this meeting, and it must work: Our little 25-man meeting has grown to almost 500 in five years.
