Recipe for Sobriety

Last night I tried a new recipe: asparagus and mushrooms in a sauce over pasta. The recipe called for one and one-half cups of white wine--actually, dry white wine was recommended. As I cooked, I wondered what I would replace the wine with. I paused and wondered what the meal would taste like with the wine. I realized it would taste great. I could almost smell the wine. I pictured a green bottle of dry white wine on the top of the kitchen counter with a light sweat on it, and two wine glasses next to it, one for me and one for my husband. Then, I wondered what my husband, also in recovery, would experience if he returned from work to find me cooking with wine. Next I saw the "fun" evening that sharing a bottle of wine with my husband over dinner could create.
