Just Don't Drink Between Each Breath

Why can't I have a small glass of wine after thirty-three years of sobriety? Because a small glass of wine would lead to a bathtub of gin and leave me wasted or dead. The reason I know this is because before coming to AA I tried many times to have just one small glass of wine or other alcoholic beverage and ended up in the same situation: drunk and in jail or God knows where.
