A doctor replies

To Concerned AAs: I want to reaffirm my deep belief and commitment to Tradition Five. Alcoholism is much too difficult a disease to address without a clear commitment to singleness of purpose. What I meant by "some groups are going to have to change" is that because in the future there will be more dually addicted alcoholics, some home groups will inevitably become more tolerant of such individuals as long as in the meetings of that group they focus on their wish to remain sober one day at a time. I also believe deeply in Tradition Three.
