Shortchanging AA

Since coming to AA in 1966, I have not had a drink. I had spent the previous eight years living in the progressive misery of chronic alcoholism, running through the lives of others like a tornado and despising myself for it. I was full of guilt, fear, anger, self-hate and hopelessness.
