The Now and the Not Now

I attended my first AA meeting on January 11, 1996, when I was forty-eight years old, and I knew I had come to the right place. Thirty-odd years of progressively worse drinking had taken me to the end of my self-willed road, and my life had become unbearably meaningless. The hope I detected at that meeting was all I needed to keep coming back.
