The wrong message?

As I have worked the AA program and matured in my sobriety, I've learned to listen and think in a different way. So when I heard a reference to a Nazi-type sponsor recently, it affected me in a new way. I've heard the reference many times in sixteen years and know that "Step Nazi" and "Big Book Nazi" are usually said with fond regard for people who take their sobriety seriously and are serious about a prospect's recovery as well. So why did the term strike me wrong this time?
