I was shocked to see the so-called "Texas Preamble" featured in the February issue without any caveats concerning its provenance. Many of us around here have always been dismayed to have what is generally considered to be a rogue piece read as if it were something published or sanctioned by AA as a whole (though, of course, an autonomous group may certainly do what it pleases). I can assure the Grapevine that this preamble doesn't represent anything like the group conscience of Texas AA, or even Dallas AA. In the Dallas area, there are about 100 AA groups, and I know of only two that use that preamble.
