Memories From the Woodstove

In my drinking days, my special place to relax was in front of the Franklin stove at the far end of our country kitchen. I sat in an antique barber chair warming my feet, while I warmed my insides with a "cold remedy": a mixture of bourbon, honey, lemon juice, and hot water. When I didn't have a cold or allergy symptoms, I drank beer or bourbon and soda with a twist of lemon. One of my coworkers convinced me the twist of lemon would prevent hangovers.
