The great equalizer

Sobriety seems to be the great equalizer for those who always felt they never measured up. We in AA are all equal (for such a judgmental group of folks). I was struck by this when I first stepped in the door and saw the reverence that was shown an individual who was not well dressed, did not speak in complete sentences, and had thirty-five years of sobriety. At the same time, a well-dressed man, who did speak in complete sentences, but who had only a short amount of time, was "dusted off" when he spoke.
