They're Playing My Song

In 1983, my wife left me because of my alcohol and drug addiction. I'd been trying to control it, but when she left, I moved into a small apartment and drank like there was no tomorrow. Two weeks later, I came out of a blackout one morning to realize that I'd fallen the night before and bruised my shoulder. I was afraid that next time I'd crack my head open and there would be no one there to find me. That afternoon I had lunch with a friend who told me her grandmother had died that way. I didn't drink for two days, but then someone offered me one and I took it.
