Keeping It Green In Greenland
In the spring of 1990, as a member of the Canadian Air Force, I was on a joint military exercise with some members of the U.S. Navy in Thule, Greenland. My part in the exercise meant I'd be in Thule for two to three weeks. Having only a few months of sobriety, I began looking for an AA meeting as soon as I got there. At that time, Thule had a contingent of U.S. Air Force personnel in place, so I started with the air force police. A helpful policeman recalled a meeting in the past but said it was now shut down.
