Not Alone In the Room
As I rode my bicycle against the wind (I can't drive again until 2003), I wondered who I'd see at the meeting. I sure hoped Bill would be there. He'd been hanging on now for over twenty days, and I was always so happy when he walked into the room. I had the keys with me, but I was hoping that the doors would be unlocked and that someone would already be there. It was the scheduled meeting time, but the room was still empty. My heart sank and I felt immediate resentment and sadness. I contemplated turning around and going home, as I had done in the past, but something called me to the door and down the stairs.
